Forrest Hoglund is the Founder and President of The Hoglund Foundation and Co-Vice Chairman of Reasoning Minds. According to The Hoglund Foundation website:
Forrest Hoglund was born in Lawrence, Kansas in 1933 to Edna and Roy Hoglund and attended public schools. After graduation from Paseo High School in Kansas City in 1951, he attended William Jewell College. He transferred to the University of Kansas, graduating in 1956 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. That summer, Forrest married Sally Roney and began his career in the energy industry with Humble Oil (later Exxon). He was called to active duty with the Army Corps of Engineers and later served in the U. S. Army Reserves.
Forrest Hoglund has enjoyed a distinguished career in the natural gas industry, including many years in top management with Exxon, Texas Oil and Gas, and EOG Resources. He now serves as Chairman of the Board of Forest Oil Company and SeaOne Maritime Corporation. After relocating several times and raising their family, the Hoglunds now divide their time between Dallas and Houston, Texas.
Forrest Hoglund now focuses much of his efforts in the philanthropic arena. Since retiring from EOG Resources in 1999, he has become involved in many nonprofit and educational organizations, serving on the Endowment Association of the University of Kansas, where he earned the Distinguished Alumni Award, and as Past Chairman of the Board of Visitors of M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. He also served as Chairman of the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Currently, he is Chairman of the Leadership Capital Campaign for the Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas and Vice Chairman of Reasoning Mind, a web-based math program for middle school students. Together, he and Sally have chaired numerous fundraisers, capital campaigns, and galas, including the recent “KU First” Capital Campaign, which raised more than $650 million.
Forrest Hoglund’s personal and professional values – a strong work ethic, integrity, and a “can do” attitude – have helped shape The Hoglund Foundation and its impact on the communities it serves. The members of the Hoglund family embrace these guiding principles as they continue their commitment to philanthropy.
