David M. Walker, former Comptroller General of the United States and head of the Government Accountability Office (1998-2008) is on a mission to educate Americans on the growing debt issue and its subsequent damage to our nation’s infrastructure.
He joins us on this program to talk about his beliefs, “The US government is on a ‘burning platform’ of unsustainable policies and practices with fiscal deficits, expensive over commitments to government provided health care and growing Medicare, Social Security and defense spending.” Walker has embarked on a fiscal wakeup tour to help educate Americans on this growing concern. He says, “Congress, which is supposed to guide the appropriations bill has not done so in three years”. He believes, that on defense spending alone, we spend 15- 20 times more than most other nations combined, “and we can absolutely reduce our defense spending without compromising our National security.”
From Walker’s perspective, laws need to be changed. He comments, “Spending is a bi- partisan problem. In the last 100 years government has grown 12 times larger plus, we’ve gone from a $20 trillion deficit to $70 trillion in 12 years under 8 years of a Republican administration and 4 years of a Democrat one.”
Walker discusses what has to be done to stop the deficit Ponzi scheme. He believes all Americans need to become more informed and involved, and we must hold our legislators accountable.
Join us on McCuistion TV for an eye opening account of the deficit situation and potential solutions, where as always we’re talking about what really matters with people who care.
