Can We Trust What The Polls Tell Us?Can We Trust What the Polls Tell Us? (2623)

The nonprofit community has been hit hard by the COVID pandemic.

For many, funding and resources are down, making it even more challenging to accomplish their work. Over 40 % of development leaders anticipate a double-digit percentage drop in their revenue this year.

Yet, their services are needed now more than ever.

Joining hosts Dennis McCuistion and Jim Falk to talk about what they foresee and solutions for this challenging time , are nonprofit leaders:

Roslyn Dawson Thompson
President and CEO
Texas Women’s Foundation

Monica Egert-Smith
Chief Relationship Officer
Communities Foundation of Texas

Froswa Booker-Drew
Vice President, Community Affairs and
Strategic Alliances, State Fair of Texas

Our guests talk about the impact COVID has had on funding for the nonprofit community. And we learn more about what their organizations focus on to help build capacity and sustainability.

Miss Egert-Smith tells us about North Texas Giving day, coming up on September 17th, and how that offers donors a way to donate to their favorite causes.

Other points to consider.

The period from 2016 to 2020 saw consistent growth in the number of 501(c)(3) Public Charities.

Today nonprofits employ over 540,000 people. In Texas alone 1 in 8 jobs are in or tied directly to the Nonprofit sector.

Texas and North Texas experienced a greater rate of growth than the United States. Collin County outpaced other major counties of North Texas, with the numbers of public charities growing by nearly 30%.

In North Texas alone, the median assets of Public Charities grew by almost 16% during the period between 2016-2020, as compared to 6% for rest of Texas (cnm.org). However over 80% of charities operate on less than $50,000 in revenue annually.

Many of these, most especially those in the Black community will be hit hard by the pandemic decrease in donations and funding.
