John Micklethwait, the Editor-in-Chief of Bloomberg and Adrian Wooldridge, The Economist‘s political editor; authors of The Wake-Up Call: Why the Pandemic Has Exposed the Weakness of the West, and How to Fix It, join hosts Dennis McCuistion and Jim Falk for an in-depth and thought-provoking conversation on how COVID has uncovered serious deficiencies in governments around the world.

The authors state that, “The rise of the West from the 1600s through the 1960s was driven by ‘better government,'” while the relative decline of the West since the 1960s is the result of the excesses and failures of government.

The authors point out that the West’s poor performance, from education to technology has put them behind East Asia and that in all probability we may not catch up unless drastic measures are taken.

Tune in to explore if the West can repair their broken systems sufficiently to be able to compete with East Asia, or is it too late to do so?
