Are some countries happier than others? If so, why? What are the attributes of happiness, and can it be bought? Does geography dictate our happiness cycle?

Joining cohosts Jim Falk and Vince Poscente is Eric Weiner, author of The Geography of Bliss.

A self-proclaimed grump, and a foreign correspondent for NPR, Weiner traveled to what is touted as some of the world’s happiest countries to research what happiness is. His research is backed up by the World Database of happiness.

His discoveries were surprising. The destitute of Calcutta are happier than the homeless in California. And The U.S. is 23rd on the list of happy countries, surpassed by Malta and Malaysia.

Moldovia ranks last on the happiness scale.

Some of the attributes that contribute to happiness:

Moderation, efficiency, relationships, creativity, community. Envy and comparing yourself to others destroy happiness.

The outcome – you can’t buy happiness.
